Our Services

A chemical peel can penetrate deep, medium, or superficial depths to enhance cell turnover and improve the appearance of skin. At Limelight Medical Spa, we offer both medium and superficial depth peels. Both our superficial SkinCeutical peels, which are exclusive to aesthetic practices and cannot be purchased online, and our medium depth VI Peel are very effective and great for someone who wants little to no downtime.

The benefits of a chemical peel are:

  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improved appearance of age spots
  • Improve the texture and pore size of skin

SkinCeutical Peels

SkinCeutical peels are superficial and only penetrate the uppermost layer of the epidermis.  They are most often performed in a series to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  We often recommend these peels 2 weeks prior to any laser treatments to help “prep” the skin for the laser treatment.

SkinCeutical peels can be used for:

  • Acne – Superficial chemical peels exfoliate the skin, effectively removing dead skin cells and excess oils. This action unblocks hair follicles and pores and reducing the appearance of pimples and improving skin texture that is damaged by acne.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles – especially under the eyes and around the mouth in sun damaged or aging skin.
  • Rough skin texture – chemical peels increase the amount of collagen in the upper layer of the skin.
  • Lentigines (large freckles also known as liver or age spots) which develop as a result of sun exposure and are often present on sites exposed to excess sun, such as the face, arms, and neck. A course of chemical peels can lighten large freckles and improve the appearance of sun damaged skin.
  • Melasma – a dark skin discoloration which appear as patches on the cheeks, nose, lips, upper lip, and forehead. It is common in women who are taking hormonal treatment in the form of contraceptives or Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and pregnant women. A course of chemical peels can lighten the appearance of these dark discolored skin patches.
  • Hyperpigmentation – caused by excess skin pigment in the skin which can result in uneven skin tone. Chemical peels can lighten and even out the tone and appearance of the skin. We recommend SkinCeutical peels for hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

SkinCeutical MicroPeels

The SkinCeutical MicroPeel 20 or 30 is a three-step clinical procedure combining exfoliation, chemical peel solution using 20% or 30% glycolic acid, and a Vitamin C firming masque, to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, laxity, dullness, and skin imperfections

VI Peels

The VI Peel is a medium depth chemical peel that can be applied to the face and various other body areas to treat everything from uneven skin tone and texture to age and sun damage.  The peel works by rejuvenating the skin at a deeper level and is effective for all skin types and tones.  VI peels require minimal downtime and most people can return to their usual routine right after the treatment. Typically, a series of three peels administered six weeks apart is an effective regimen.  After that, they can be applied yearly or as needed to preserve that youthful, refreshed look.

Vibraderm is an alternative to microdermabrasion and is used to improve the appearance of the skin by exfoliating and stimulating new collagen.  The Vibraderm device uses sonic vibration technology to smooth and renew the skin, and causes less skin irritation than conventional microdermabrasion, resulting in minimal downtime. The procedure is relaxing and we often perform a Vibraderm treatment in preparation for other procedures such as IPL, chemical peels, and microneedling.

Chemical Peel FAQ

Is a chemical peel better than laser treatments?
A chemical peel is best used in conjunction with laser or IPL treatments. At Limelight, we often recommend an initial chemical peel before or after an IPL or laser treatment to give the most optimal results in a short period of time.

How many peels should I do?
A moderate depth peel 3-4 times a year generally produces excellent results. Superficial peels can be performed monthly.

Is it painful?
No, the VI peel is not painful. You will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides almost immediately. We also use the Zimmer Chiller to increase patient comfort during the peel.

How much do treatments cost?
Chemical Peels are relatively low-cost treatments, and the cost decreases when used in conjunction with a combination of other treatments to achieve optimal results. Superficial peels are less expensive than a deeper peel like a VI Peel. For example, a single SkinCeuticals peel cost $125 while a single VI peel costs between $275-$355.
