Microneedling is a non-invasive treatment during which tiny needles penetrate your skin to create thousands of “micro-injuries.” These injuries trigger a healing process that stimulates the formation of new collagen and improves the skin texture and overall appearance of your skin.
Our newest microneedling device is the Morpheus8. There is a ton of buzz and excitement around this innovative RF micro-needling device, due to its ability to fractionally ablate and remodel tissue at deeper depths (10x deeper than lasers) while also sparing the epidermis to exceed the results of a fractional CO2 safely with less pain than other RF needling devices.
We use two additional innovative microneedling systems: SkinPen and ProCell. Introducing Morpheus8 Microneedling
Dr. Welden has brought a new breakthrough in microneedling to Cincinnati! The new Morpheus8 the first and only fractional ablative technology. It effectively resurfaces and tightens skin and removes scars, active acne, and stretch marks. It’s also the first option powerful and deep enough to morph and contour subdermal adipose tissue, so can remove fat under places like the neck, arms, and stomach. It can also permanently eliminate the smell and sweat glands of the armpits for hyperhidrosis treatments. It’s safe and equally effecitve for all skin types too.*
How Does Morpheus8 Microneedling Work?
One reason the Morpheus8 is so effective is that it can reach deeper than any microneedling device, and 10x deeper than a laser – it has slightly thicker needles spaced further apart which go deeper with less resistance compared to the other stand-alone RF needling devices, and it’s up to twice as fast. The bigger/deeper channels create more collagen and provide an even better delivery channel for PRP. Each needle on the Morpheus8 disposable tip is positively-charged, and the lattice-designed grounding plate surrounding each needle rests on the skin’s surface – this allows focused and directional bulk heating from the tips of the needles upwards to the skin surface, thus promoting collagen and elastin synthesis through all layers of subdermal/dermal tissue. All other RF Microneedling devices jump the energy from needle tip to tip at a lower energy, thus not allowing the capability of ablation nor RF bulk heating up to the skin’s surface. The needle-to-needle arching makes the other technologies more painful to patients as well. Morpheus8 provides a 4-in-1 treatment (Needle perforation, Ablation, Coagulation, and bulk RF heat directed to the skins surface). All other RF needling devices provide a 2-in-1 treatment (Needle perforation, Coagulation).
What are the Benefits of the Morpheus8 Microneedling Treatment, and What Is the Treatment Like?
Traditional microneedling treatments or collagen induction therapy (CIT) uses needles to pierce the skin and create small channels that your body heals by creating new collagen. However, RF microneedling with Morpheus8 also applies radio frequency-generated heat to your skin, which tightens and contours the underlying fat making it a much more powerful procedure.
3 treatments spaced 1 month apart are recommended for best results. We’ll numb the treatment area before the procedure so that you’ll be comfortable, and it takes about 20-60 minutes depending on how many areas are treated. Microneedling has very little downtime, you can expect to see micro lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to 1 week. You can wear makeup 1-2 days after.

Microneedling with PRP
Also known as the “vampire facial,” platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has received so much attention, and with good reason too. It seems like we have finally found the fountain of youth with this treatment. Microneedling with PRP near you involves applying growth factor–rich serum from your blood during and after microneedling to stimulate collagen growth.
PRP can reduce wrinkles, plump and tighten sagging skin, remove deep crease lines, diminish acne scars, and provide an overall improvement in your complexion. While PRP may sound like something straight out of a science-fiction novel, the excellent results many clients see speak for themselves.
PRP is a 3-step procedure that includes the following steps:
- We start by drawing blood from your arm.
- The platelet-rich serum is separated from the rest of your blood.
- The serum (the clear part of the blood) is applied to your skin during and after the treatment to spread the platelet-rich serum deep into the skin.
Microneedling with Growth Factor
At Limelight Laser and Medical Spa, we have found that using skin growth factors helps boost overall results after your treatment. These human growth factor serums derived from bone marrow stem cells are known to promote scarless healing with minimal inflammation, and they also help accelerate the growth of collagen in your skin. Is There Any Downtime After Microneedling Treatments?
There is minimal downtime involved. Typically, you will experience some mild facial redness for 24–48 hours. The procedure can be performed year-round and does not require you to stay out of the sun; just don’t forget to apply your sunscreen.
Is Microneedling Painful?
Ideally, you shouldn’t feel a thing since we apply a numbing cream to the treatment area 30 minutes before the procedure to prevent any discomfort.

The Morpheus8 costs $750 per treatment, with a discount for a package of 3 treatments. For other types of microneedling, depending on whether it’s performed with PRP, growth factors, or Vibradermabrasion, the treatments can cost between $295–$495/session.
